Tor N. Tolhurst

Food and Agricultural Economist

About

In fall 2024, I joined Michigan State University as an assistant professor in the AFRE department. You can reach me at: [email protected].

I am an applied microeconomist focusing on the impact of tail events on food and agricultural systems. My work centers on measuring and understanding these tail events, where the standard econometric-toolkit may not be appropriate. Applications of this work includes risk, resiliency, and policy. My work has been published in leading academic outlets, including the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, PLOS ONE, and the Southern Economic Journal. I earned my PhD from the University of California Davis in 2020.
